Save the World is the premium, co-op sandbox PVE Campaign of Fortnite.

Save the World and Fortnite were synonymous at one time—buying Fortnite meant buying Save the World. However, with the release of the PvP mode Battle Royale, Epic Games and most players started referring to Fortnite as the collection of two different games: Save the World is the paid PvE Campaign, and Battle Royale is the free-to-play PvP game mode. Save The World was initially expected to be released as free-to-play in late 2018, however this was pushed back in October 2018 to an unspecified date.[1] On June 29, 2020, Epic Games announced that Save the World would be leaving Early Access, however it would not be going free-to-play as originally planned.[2]

Story[edit | edit source]

'If you're out there, we need your help! The storm came, and the monsters followed. They took everything: our towns, even our families. The few of us left are in serious danger.. Now it's the time to fight back! All we need is a leader. And that's you. Sure it'll be dangerous. I mean, yeah, there's monsters (a lot of monsters!) but we've got massive forts, killer traps, and piles of loot. If we stick together, they don't stand a chance. This is our world, and it's time to take it back!

- Ray(Starting Cutscene/Introduction Trailer to Save the World.)

One day, 98% of Earth's human population suddenly disappeared, and the remaining humans found the skies covered in dense clouds, creating chaotic storms that dropped husks: humanoid zombie-like creatures that attacked the living. The survivors found ways to construct 'storm shields', a field that cleared the storm clouds from immediately overhead and reduced the attacks from husks, and used these to set up survivor bases across the globe. The player is a commander of one of these bases, charged with going out of the storm shield to find resources, survivors, and other allies to help expand their storm shield and find a way to return Earth to its normal state.

How to Play[edit | edit source]

World

In Save the World, the player takes on the role of one of the numerous Heroes, with the task of fighting against The Storm, rescuing Survivors, building structures, and upgrading and expanding a Shield Device to protect the area. Though your tasks are straightforward, Save the World offers multiple levels of progression for players to utilize in order to better reach their goal.

Heroes[edit | edit source]

See: Heroes, Traits, Guide: Which Hero is Right for Me?

There are currently four main Hero Classes in Save the World:

  • The Soldier, with a focus on ranged combat and the all-around use of Guns and Grenades.
  • The Constructor, with a focus on building, defending structures, and crowd control for heavy situations.
  • The Ninja, with a focus on melee combat and fast movement.
  • The Outlander, with a focus on resource collection, scouting, and distraction/crowd control.

In addition to the Main Classes, each Class has a number of Subclasses, which dictate the Abilities, Hero Perks and Squad Bonuses that a Hero will receive as it is Upgraded and Evolved. Heroes come in the form of Cards that can be acquired from Loot Llamas, or from Rewards.

Players have the possibility of taking up to 6 Heroes into battle:

  • The Commander is the Hero that the player controls.
  • The Support Team allows 5 additional heroes to be selected for bonuses based on each hero.
  • Each Hero has a unique perk. Commander Heroes grant an evolved perk, marked with a '+'.

Weapons[edit | edit source]

See: Weapons, Perk, Guide:Choosing_the_Right_Weapon

There are two categories of Weapons in Save the World:

  • Ranged Weapons, which include Assault Rifles, Shotguns, Pistols, Sniper Rifles, and Explosive Weapons.
  • Melee Weapons, which include Swords, Axes, Spears, Scythes, Clubs, and Hardware.

Much like Heroes, each Weapon also has a Subclass which will further dictate how the weapon performs.

Weapons are acquired and used in two steps:

  1. Weapon Schematics are acquired through Llama Pinatas and Rewards. These can be Upgraded and Evolved.
    • Unlike Heroes, which feature fixed Perks and Bonuses, the Perks and Bonuses on Weapon Schematics are random. Later on in the game, the player has the choice to Upgrade and Strengthen the weapon's Perks and Bonuses.
    • The player must own a Weapon Schematic to be able to craft the Weapon they wish to use.
  2. Possessing the appropriate Materials to be able to craft a specific Weapon from a Weapon Schematic.

Weapons that have already been crafted can also be acquired by looting Treasure Chests, Storm Chests, or as loot drops from killing various enemies. These Weapons and their subsequent Perks will always be random.

Weapons wear out and break over time, and as such their use will be limited by their inherent durability. Weapons can be used until they break, or recycled in order to reclaim some of the crafting materials which were used up in its creation.

Building[edit | edit source]

Building is a core mechanic of Save the World and functions in the same manner as building in Battle Royale.

Knowing how, when, and where to build structures is vital for completing missions and Storm Shield Defence. You can edit structures. Structures can be upgraded and repaired using materials.

Traps[edit | edit source]

Main article: Traps

Traps come in two types: Defensive, which do damage to enemies, and Utility, which perform a function such as Healing.

Traps and Trap Schematics interact in exactly the same way as the Weapons and Weapon Schematics listed above.

F.O.R.T. Stats[edit | edit source]

F.O.R.T. is an acronym for the four types of statistics available to players to boost their strength in the following categories:

  • Fortitude, health, and health regeneration.
  • Offense, ranged, and melee weapon damage.
  • Resistance, shield, and shield regeneration.
  • Tech, Trap, Ability, and Gadget damage, as well as healing.

F.O.R.T. Stats is the sum of the bonuses awarded by Survivor Squads and Skills and can be viewed in the Squads tab.

Survivor Squads[edit | edit source]

Note: In Patch 6.30 with the Front-End Improvements update, The Survivor Squads have been moved to the new Survivor Tab. However, it works just like before.

Main article: Survivor Squads

There are currently two types of Survivors in Save the World:

Much like Heroes, Survivors come in the form of cards that can be Upgraded and Evolved. They come with a myriad of bonuses.

Survivors are slotted into Survivor Squads, which unlock over time as missions in the story are completed. The accumulated stats of the Survivors slotted into the Survivor Squads affect the F.O.R.T. Stats (bonuses to Hero Strengths) and the player's Power Level (which missions they are allowed to access). Only Lead Survivors, who determine proportionally a larger percentage of F.O.R.T. Stats, can be slotted into the Leader slot for each squad. Survivors can be acquired through Loot Llamas and Rewards.

Skills[edit | edit source]

Note: In Patch 6.30 The Skill Trees were removed due to the new Front-End Improvements Update. All players that got rewards from the Skill And Research Trees were given some free rewards. The Research Tab is still in-game, but the Skill tree is now the Upgrade Tab. Additionally Leveling up still rewards skill points, but not every time. instead, it gives random rewards and after a couple of Levels gives Skill points.

There are currently two Skill Trees which offer point-based progression in Save the World:

  • The Skill Tree, which can be used by leveling up, and from Rewards.
  • The Research Tree, which can be used with Research Points that are generated over time.

Nodes not only offer direct bonuses to F.O.R.T. stats, but unlock things such as Gadgets, higher-grade Evolutions, Survivor Squad slots, and Pickaxe Upgrades.

Missions, Quests, and Events[edit | edit source]

Missions, Quests, and Events are where the player actually uses their Hero to Save the World.

  • Whenever a player enters the game world, they are always tasked with a Mission, such as rescuing survivors or building a bomb. The victory condition for each Mission must be met in order for the Mission to be considered Completed.
  • A Quest describes an additional task or set of tasks that must be completed in order to progress the Quest path. Quests might task a player with killing a certain amount of husks, the collection of certain Quest Items, or completing multiple Missions of a certain type. Every Quest provides Rewards upon completion.
  • Events describe limited-time Quest paths or Missions that offer unique rewards, such as Event Heroes or Event Weapons. Often times Events will reward players with event tickets that can be used to purchase special Event Llamas in an Event Store.

There are three ways to jump into the action:

  • Selecting 'Play Now' on the Play tab places the player into a Mission queue that will satisfy the current requirement for Save the World's Main Quest path.
    • Completing the Main Quest path is the only way to reach higher-level requirements Map locations.
  • Selecting 'View Event' while on the Play tab brings up the player's current Event Quest progression. Selecting 'Play Now' on this Event Quest screen places the player into a mission queue that will provide the player an opportunity to meet some or all of the current requirements for the current Event Quest path.
  • Players can navigate to a specific Map Location and see which Missions are available. Players can use this screen to choose a Mission based on its type or what rewards it offers.

Monsters[edit | edit source]

Main article: Monsters

Players encounter a variety of monsters as they progress through Save the World.

  • Husks and Mist Monsters attack on sight with a variety of attacks and behaviors.
  • Mimics conceal themselves as Treasure Chests, springing themselves on the unwary Hero.
  • Trolls are notable for their treasure stashes and for hoarding BluGlo.

At higher levels, players will encounter elemental monsters:

  • Fire monsters are weak to Water weapons and do double damage to wood structures.
  • Nature monsters are weak to Fire weapons and do double damage to metal structures.
  • Water monsters are weak to Nature weapons and do double damage to stone structures.

PVE (PVE) company is a paid part of the Fortnite game as opposed to the battle royal. In this mode, you need to protect the base and fend off the waves of zombie. If you have not yet familiarized yourself with the content of the PVE mode, then we recommend reading the article on the Save the World initially, and then returning here to decide on what set of fortnite you will be purchasing.

Which set of PVE mode to buy

PVE Fortnite mode can be purchased in 2 different editions. We have prepared a table of differences between the standard version from Deluxe, so that you can get acquainted with the bonuses of each version.

Set contentsStandartDeluxe
PVE++
Weapon pack-+
Exclusive Founder's Pistol-+
Starter Hero Pack-+
Pinata Packs733
Extra
Vault Inventory Slots
-+
In-Game Banner Icons410
Xp Boosts-10
Price$34.99$49.99

At first glance it seems that for the second Deluxe version there are a lot of bonuses and it is worth buying it, but not everything is so simple. We will describe each bonus from the player playing more than a month in the PVE Fortnite. And you already decide which version you need.

Weapon pack – At first glance, this bonus seems to be significant, but any player in the pve mode will tell you that a similar drop is already on the third day of the game (or even the first day of the game). You will most likely just throw it away.

Exclusive Founder's Pistol – is valuable only as a collection copy, most likely you will not play with it.

Starter Hero Pack – the only value of this bonus is that you will not have to play the first matches for the soldier class. Already in the first 3 days you somehow fall out all these classes of heroes.

Pinata Packs – the only relatively valuable reward that can speed up your pumping in the game. And perhaps for the sake of this bonus it is worth taking a deluxe.

In-Game Banner Icons – vault cells are sold for gaming gold (gold is given for completing missions, not for donat), and flags are a unique profile decoration – whether you need it or not.

Xp Boosts – a nice bonus, but it doesn't accelerate the level as much as it might seem.

Fortnite Not Working Xbox One

We have described every bonus that is given out in the Deluxe version of the game. What version to buy? – the choice is yours, but from myself I can only say that I did not feel the difference between the deluxe and the usual one, and I don't see any sense in overpaying for the deluxe. If you take a PVE version for pharma B-bucks, buy a standard edition.

How to buy Fortnire Save the World

Before you buy a game, you need to know that by purchasing PVE mode on a PC, you can also play on PS4 and Xbox without buying additional copies.
